Start of Fall clothes haul

Due to my lack of money and monthly-only pay cheques, I found myself extremely strapped for cash in August. I was feeling slightly down because I’m a self-confessed shopaholic and find it extremely difficult to not spend money. I get a real thrill to enter those 4 digits of my pin, even if it is for a pack of chewing gum – yes I probably do need professional help.  So when August’s pay cheque came through, and my hard work slaving away throughout summer paid off; I thought I’d treat myself to a few little purchases to cheer myself up and get my Autumn wardrobe ready. Some of them were splurges (cough, Topshop, cough), but the others were sale bargains, so I don’t feel as bad about what is left of my wages.

To begin with – my Topshop purchases. I am absolutely in love with everything in Topshop at the moment. I wasn’t keen on anything in store during Spring and Summer; but since they’ve bought in their Autumn collection, I just can’t help but be obsessed with every single thing, especially products in the ‘Margot’s World’ trend.

The first item purchased was this beautiful, yellow and white polka-dot shirt. My eyes were drawn immediately to this item due to the amazing colour. Usually, I don’t tend to wear yellow because of the fact I’m quite pale and blonde, so it doesn’t suit my skin tone, but I just couldn’t not buy this. I think it is something that can be worn by anyone, and with anything! So far, I’ve worn it on a night out with a black mini dress, a gold necklace and gold shoes; but I really do want to buy myself some pale boyfriend jeans to pair it with a little white top.

Secondly, I bought myself the black and white ‘Mesh T-Shirt all-in-one’ jumpsuit. Again, jumpsuits aren’t something I normally wear but I find that this item is really flattering for my hourglass shape as it is ruched in at the waist and then has a bit more extra fabric around the thigh area. The fabric is 95% viscose and 5% elastane, so it is so comfortable, and barely creases at all. Also, I am an absolute lover of anything monochrome, so this item – to me – is perfect. Another thing that I love about this jumpsuit is that it can either be dressed up for a night out, for example, with a pair of white heels, or in the daytime with a pair of Converse. It’s so forgiving and draws attention to all the right places. Definitely 5 stars for this item!

The next item I bought was this Accessorize necklace. I may be a tad bias because I do work for Accessorize, and it’s probably the reason I have no money because of my amazing 70% discount(!), but as soon as I saw this on the shop floor I had to buy it – I have worn it so much since and there are no regrets! Originally it was £25 but because of my discount I paid £7.50. It goes perfectly with pretty much anything and just adds a bit more glamour to an outfit. Accessorize really does have some fabulous jewellery and bags in at the moment, and I can’t wait to see our shop filled with more as Christmas arrives.

My final purchase was this gorgeous Chanel inspired zip jacket. I have been searching high and low for something like this for ages, so that I could wear it for Autumn/Winter with a pair of jeans and boots as it looks so expensive and chic. I managed to grab this in Miss Selfridge for only £18. It was the only one there and in my size, so it was literally meant to be. I think it could also look cute over a little dress either for daytime or night time. It’s a real classic and essential piece for anyone’s wardrobe. Maybe one day if I manage to actually save some money I could buy myself a real Chanel jacket. …..Dream on!

I definitely won’t be splurging any more money on clothes anytime soon, but it was good to finally get my autumn wardrobe going considering how cold its got! I’ve added links onto the pictures where possible.

Product Review: Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronze Universel

From the start of Summer, I have found that the hot air and humid weather has caused my makeup to look dry and lifeless by the end of the day, and sometimes even only a couple of hours after putting on makeup. I thought it was maybe because I had bought a different foundation, but after switching between a few, I realized that it was actually the powder blushers I was putting on my face. So ever since this discovery, I became a huge fan of using cream blushers, and even used my favourite pink lipstick on my cheeks as to create a fresh and dewy glow to the skin that lasts all day without any appearance of dry skin.

However, I was still struggling with the fact that despite having nice pink cheeks, powder bronzers were still drying my face out, so I decided to research into various cream bronzers on the market. I’m all for contouring the face so I needed a product that would allow me to contour my face as usual, without it being too ‘cakey’ on the skin. Unfortunately, there are not many products like this on the market at all, especially in the cheaper brands, which meant that I would have to spend a fair bit in order to get what I wanted. When I went to my local MAC counter, I was told they did one but it would only be found in their London stores. This would end up being an extremely expensive product – including travel fares! So, I continued my search high and low when I found myself at the holy grail – the Chanel counter. I’ve never even bothered to venture to this counter because I just know on a student budget, I would most likely be judged for being a peasant looking at expensive products I could never afford!

But this time, I didn’t care, because I discovered a product that met all the criteria I needed and is now a product I can no longer live without – Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronze Universel.

SOLEIL TAN DE CHANEL

It has a gorgeous creamy texture that blends perfectly with foundation when applied on the skin with a buffing brush. It’s an extremely versatile product and you can create various different looks from this one product. For example, you can easily build it up if you want a darker look for a night out, blend it in softly with a paler foundation if you want the appearance of a face tan, wear it as a foundation if you already have darker skin, or even on its own just to add some depth and coverage on a clean face.

What is great about this product is that although it may be quite expensive for a student, it is of high quality and is good value for money. I managed to get mine from Beales Bournemouth on a 10% discount day, so for £27.90 I got a 30g pot, which after two months, hasn’t barely even shown a reduction in product. Also, it is the most amazing smelling product I’ve ever used on my face!

Whilst using it, I have definitely found that my makeup looks a lot cleaner, and I am not getting as many spots, simply because the bronzer has a light coverage, and therefore does not clog the skin like a powder does. I wouldn’t be surprised if this lasted me until the rest of the year, so it really is worth the money.

However, since purchasing this bronzer, Bourjois have released their own dupe called the Bourjois Paris Bronzing Primer for only £9.99. I have heard some good reviews about this product so maybe next time I’ll give this a try before spending a load of money on the Universel.

Nevertheless, it’s the first Chanel product I’ve ever purchased, and although I won’t be buying anything else from there in a hurry, it’s clear that Chanel never fails to provide great, high quality products whether it is makeup – or fashion!
